The Management of South Africa Police Service (SAPS) recruitment of qualified Applicants for 2024 / 2025 intake. SAPS seeks to recruit patriotic citizens who are willing to protect and proud to serve the country by pursuing a career as entry Police Trainees for enlistment in the Basic Police Development Learning Programme (BPDLP).
The application process is easy, and you will be required to provide your personal details, educational qualifications, and employment history.
SAPS Requirements
Every interested must:
- have permanent residence in the Republic of South Africa of which documentary proof must be
furnished; - have a grade 12 school certificate or equivalent qualification of which documentary proof
must be furnished; - own a valid driving license for at least a light motor vehicle will serve as an advantage;
- Be proficient in at least English and one other official language;
- Be at least eighteen (18) and under thirty-five (35) years of age of which documentary proof must be furnished;
- Have no previous criminal convictions and shall allow his or her fingerprints to be taken and background
enquiries to be made - Not have any tattoo marks which will be visible when wearing any uniform of the Service;
- Be ready to take the oath of office;
- Submit himself or herself to a physical medical examination according to the National
Commissioner; and must be physically and mentally fit for appointment in the post for which
he or she applies; - Undergo and pass a psychological assessment according to the National Commissioner and comply with the profile of a police official.
- be ready to undergo such training as determined by the National Commissioner successfully
- be ready to serve anywhere in the Republic of South Africa.

- Interested applicants should submit their applications on the official application form, which can be
obtained free of charge from any Police Station / SAPS Recruitment offices or downloaded from
the SAPS Website (https://www.saps.gov.za). The Z83 previously utilized will no longer be
accepted. - Attached uncertified copies of the following documents to your application form:
- Identity Document;
- Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification;
- Tertiary Qualifications;
- Academic Record;
- Driver’s license (where applicable);
- Testimonial (School / Church / Traditional Leaders)
- Service Certificates of previous employers (if applicable)

Trying to get the correct recruitment application form on any of the SAPS / Gov web pages is a total mystery, either end up getting graduate loan application or reservist forms, none for recruits wanting to join, is this a joke or what?! Local recruitment office line is also never answered here in Port Elizabeth. I want to assist youth who wants to join, no luck so far.

Good morning, My name is Given Karabo Mashele am 27 years old and am from Pretoria in Mabopane. I was a student at Tshwane University of Technology doing my diploma in Policing and I completed my studies in 2019, after completing I then applied for the saps recruitment post in 2019 late, and I was called upon to be part of the selection process, we undergone the stages the were required, meaning the (psychometric, integrity, fitness assessment, interview) and we even signed the contract in march 2021 and we where waiting for the medical stage but unfortunately due to the Covid 19 pandemic the program was stopped. So I wanted to ask, when will the program resume and will we continue where we left off or will the program start from scratch…. please can I get a reply to my comment.

Hi , my name is Nthabiseng Mpela l have been applying at SAPS from 2008 for a permanent position since I was recruited as a reservist in 2007. I wrote a couple psychrometric test and passed and do physical assessment and did well. I did that over the years till I gave up in 2013, when out of curiosity I took myself check the process of my application and found my file on the table in the board room. When going to the recruitment office and what was my file alone on the broad room table she had no answer, when going to check was no more there. That was the last day I ever went at SAPS, believing that I will be hired. I tried to walk way but my passion and love to render services that will uplift communities makes me wonder.
