The Community Chest of the Western Cape is a Section 21 South African-based registered not-for-profit organization, established in 1928. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will be responsible for ensuring the development, growth, and success of the Chest.

Job Summary:
The CEO will be responsible for the supervision and management of the overall business strategy and success. The ideal incumbent will be giving all the strategic directions to the team across the entire organisation under supervision of the board. The role demands designing and delivering the overarching business strategy that will ensure sustainable growth within the NPO sector with a community-based focus aligned with the organisations constitution. The ideal incumbent will be ethical, motivational, and an astute industry thought leader.

Key roles and responsibilities for this position include:

Ensuring the development of Community Chest’s 3-5-year business plan with strategic financial and operational budget;
Alignment and monitoring of strategic financial and operational budget to the strategic objectives and goals;
Overseeing the implementation of, and monitor, regulatory compliance with all statutory regulations and codes of good corporate governance;
Ensuring sourcing of sufficient income is achieved through fundraising to finance project, programme, and operational costs as well as exploring new funding streams;
Report monthly on fundraising achieved against set fundraising targets;
Developing and/or overseeing the writing of grant proposals to source funds from donors, including renewal proposals and budgets for existing programs and grants;
Ensuring that efficient organisational structure and systems are in place to enable the organisation to implement its programs and core business to the required standard; and
Ensuring quality control, effective stakeholder engagement, and communications strategy.

Minimum requirements:

Relevant Post Graduate Degree: Accounting (i.e.(CA) SA), Social Innovation, or any other relevant post graduate qualifications;
Minimum of 10-years senior managerial experience with at least 8-years’ experience in the NGO/Development sector and at least 5-years’ experience as a CEO in a grant making/ donor agency;
In-depth knowledge and understanding of the NPC & NPO regulations and statutory requirements in South Africa;
Demonstratable experience in a grant making/ donor agency with a proven high-performance track record in fundraising.
