The ACVV Cape Town is a registered Non-Profit organisation providing designated child protection services.The ECD centre provides for approximately 230 children aged 2 – 6 (up to Grade R) and employs 25 staff.
Job Title: ECD Principal (full-time)
Location: Cape Town
Reports to: Branch Manager
Starting Date: 1 December 2020
Remuneration: A market related salary dependent on experience and qualifications

The purpose of the position is to manage the creche and the staff. To ensure that the operations of the creche are running smoothly, oversee the ECD programme to ensure quality education and engage with stakeholders to improve the service.Oversee all aspects of the operations of the creche.

Responsibilities:

  • ECD programme management
  • HR management and supervision
  • Manage the facilities, grounds and kitchen
  • Administrative management
  • Reporting
  • Input in financial management and budgets
  • Liaise with stakeholders and improve service delivery
  • Other tasks as set out in job description

Requirements:

  • B. Ed (Foundation Phase)/ Three (3) year pre-primary Diploma
  • A member of the South African Council of Educators (SACE)
  • Certified training in CAPS
  • A police clearance as per Children Protection Act
  • A minimum of five years continuous ECD teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Development and programme development and implementation
  • Knowledge of DSD departmental forms and reports
  • Management, leadership and supervision skills
  • Conflict resolution and problems solving skills
  • Ability to manage unit/programme budgets
  • Reporting skills (written and verbal)
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email)
  • Ability to communicate and transfer skills to the community
  • Communications skills in English and Afrikaans
  • A valid South African driver’s licence
