NSFAS laptop application for 2023 is out. Prospective beneficiaries can get a laptop from NSFAS for free.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require some information from you to know if you are qualified to receive an NSFAS laptop.
As an NSFAS funded student, you should produce a valid ID, proof of registration (or student card) as well as sign the acknowledgment receipt of the digital learning device on delivery. You will also have to agree to the terms and conditions of the device as set out by your institution.
People who can register:
- NSFAS funded students at TVET colleges: You must be a continuing student who was registered in 2020 and currently registered to study in 2021.
- NSFAS funded students at universities: You must be registered to study at any public university; both first-time entering and continuing students may apply for a learning device.
How to apply for NSFAS laptop for free 2023
NSFAS-funded students registered at public universities and TVET colleges can now make their NSFAS laptop application 2023 via a student Digital Learning Device Online Order portal.
01 Complete the DLD form:
Collect, complete and submit the Digital Learning Device (DLD) form to your Financial Aid Office (FAO) on campus. Order your laptop on the DLD online order portal via the NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za. NSFAS along with your institution will verify your details as well as your order.
Remember, once you are contacted for the delivery and collection of the device, no one can receive/collect the laptop on your behalf, you must be present and also sign before it is handed over to you.
In addition, the portal will require the following information for the NSFAS laptop application 2023:
- South African ID number;
- Student number, Contact details;
- Name of the institution they are registered at;
- Campus name and home address.
Students who are not funded by NSFAS but who need a laptop should consult their institutions.
According to Mncwabe, these students will be responsible for paying for the laptop they receive from their institution. As such, they need to agree to the institution’s repayment terms.
Consultations
Mncwabe said consultations with universities started soon after Higher Education Minister Dr Blade Nzimande issued a directive for NSFAS to expedite the issuance of laptops to students.
“Consultations with the university sector have neared completion allowing university NSFAS-funded students to commence ordering their devices through our portal,” she said.
“We are speedily continuing with the TVET consultation to enable college NSFAS-funded students to also submit their orders online.”
NSFAS urged applicants to direct their inquiries via the following contacts:
- Email: info@nsfas.org.za.
