Job Title: Gallery Coordinator: Graphics
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Job Summary:
The incumbent would be required to assist the Graphic Designer with on air graphics and assist the Technical Director in graphics operation in the control room and to contribute when required to do so in any capacity in the control room.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the key performance areas include but are not limited to:

1.Building and designing:
-Creating graphics using the systems utilized by the company.
-Conceptualizing new ideas that are fresh and dynamic.
-Taking ownership of new ideas and implementing it from concept to the final product.
-Creating new concepts and ideas that can enhance the output of the channel both on air and online.
-Building and designing of 3D and 2D images and motion graphics and sequences.
-Pitching graphic ideas for story analysis in line with the channels style guide.
-Managing special projects designs and implementation.

2.Graphics:
-Conceptualising, driving and overseeing creative processes for new graphics templates.
-Completing graphics requests using templates on the Graphics Computers.
-Checking all graphics before going on air.
-Operating graphics play-outs computers during live and pre-recorded programmes.
-Building animations using templates driven computer graphics.
-Loading completed graphics on play-out machines in FCC and Control room.
-Checking equipment if it is fully functional and if not, reporting to IT and Technical Director.

3.Conceptualising:
-Creating unique/original designs, using the tools available, within the time constraints of a deadline
-Completing and understating the channel’s requirements by completing the brief using creative skills. Being pro-active by designing/creating new and fresh concepts.
-Selling concept and ideas.
-Preparing for upcoming News or Sport related events in advance.
-Working closely with the editorial and technical teams when creating graphics for upcoming events and understanding the role of each member in the team, to successfully complete a project.

4.Graphics:
-Checking Viz machine and associated software is in good working order.
-Reporting any faults to relevant department.
-Ensuring graphics run down is correct.
-Performing the play-out of graphics as per the original run down.
-Completing graphics requests using provided templates on the Graphic Computers, as per the required standards.
-Operating graphics play-out computers during live and pre-recorded programmes.
-Ensuring that content is stylistically and linguistically correct.
-Building animations using template driven computer graphics.
-Typing in all titles, supers and credits.

5.Support and Coordination:
-When adequately trained, standing in for any of the operations of the control room.

Requirements:
A relevant Film / Television qualification
A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
