Does NSFAS fund Private Colleges and Institutions? Scholarship Programme 2021

The Does NSFAS fund Private Colleges and Institutions? are currently looking to fund undergraduates looking for scholarships.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government funded bursary who receives money from the Department of Higher Education which provides funding for students for further education. The bursary covers tuition, registration fees and additional monthly allowances.

However, NSFAS does not fund private college’s and institutions. NSFAS only provides funding for South African students who will study at public universities or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

If you are planning on studying at a public college or TVET college, these are the requirements:

  • You’re a South African citizen
  • If you’re a SASSA grant recipient, you qualify for funding
  • You have a combined household income of not more than R350 000 per year
  • Person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per year
